Why use Distant Horizon and how ?

!WARNING! This is not a tutorial for optimization. Do not proceed if your hardware already struggles to run the modpack!

The mod Distant Horizon enables an infinite render distance, even on servers, without significantly impacting your in-game performance.

Exemple of result with bliss shader

Why use it?

Ever noticed how Minecraft's current render distance doesn't do justice to its vastness? Even on mid-tier configurations, playing with just a 32-block render distance can be tough. On most Java servers, it's often capped at around 7 blocks, or even 4 on modded ones. So, if you're building a mega castle atop a mountain, you'll need a distant horizon to truly appreciate your creation.

Does it hog a lot of resources?

Absolutely! But it employs a LOD (Level of Detail) technology that's way more efficient than the traditional render distance. Plus, the mod utilizes your CPU for rendering the map. And you can tweak it based on your setup, from easy on resources to "burn my CPU to a crisp" mode.

Is it compatible with Prominence 2?

Yes and no. Yes, if you don't have shaders active; no, if you do. So, if shaders aren't a big deal for you, it'll work just fine.

Where can I get it?

You can grab it from Modrinth or Curseforge.
